Rode the Harley over to one of the Islands here. This was Jekyll Island owned by the wealthiest people in America at the turn of the last Century. JP Morgan, Goodyear, Vanderbilt,Rockefeller and more.
In the picture below is the Island Club.
Under the tower at the left is a covered doorway. Just inside the doorway to the right is were all those guys got together a there actions brought about the Federal Reserve System. However their specific ideas about how to run it was rejected by Congress.

I think that this was JP Morgans Cottage. I say Cottage because this was not their home. To the far right under an oak tree is a glassed covered telephone were the first cross country telephone call was made.

These guys lived as if they were gods. This is the historical marker were they docked. Rockefellers wealth by todays`s standards is said to of been more than Bill Gates. If you see a guy`s name Crane on the sign, he is the guy whos name is on millions of toilets. These pictures can not define the beauty of this place. The Hotel is as if it is from a dream inside. I have stayed there a few times. It is great.

For those of us that don't take 3 vacations a year, thanks for sharing.

Those are nice pictures. We went for a Sunday drive too. My wife brought the cd's and little one slept for a while in the car seat. During the drive I wished I had a digital camera to show you guys where I live. Need to get a couple more good jobs first though.
Thanks for sharing HJ. :)

Food was not cooked inside of these Cottages because of Fire and they did not have A/C and it was already hot as hell and other reasons.
The food was cooked by master cooks at the Hotel and brought by wagon to the Cottages. The drivers were instructed to sing or whistle while bringing the food so the people at the Cottages would know that they were not eating it. This is the Rockefeller Cottage. Poor guy!

We started in Victoria and drove North past Cowichan.
It's a beautiful drive with lots of views of the ocean and the Coast mountains in the distance. Hope the map helps. Seattle is just South of the 405 marker.

I believe we also have a few left over draft dodgers too.
They live on the Gulf Islands. The closest I've been to your area was 4 years ago we went to a trade show in Charlotte. Rented a car and drove to Myrtle Beach. I was amazed that I could see buildings to the North and to the South until they dipped from the horizon. It was the first time I had ever been to a Hooters.
God Bless America.:)
