Hello all.I am looking to get rid of some of my hvac tools. These tools are almost new and not just saying that to sell them.I suffered an injury by falling off a roof and I am no longer going to be in this industry.
What I am looking to sell is a J/B 5 cfm vaccum pump, dtech refrigerant leak detector, extech pocket thermo anemometer, tif combustiable gas leak detector, digital thermometer/superheat checker, yellow jacket monometer.Like I said these tools really haven't been used more than 10 times some once or twice.
I am in Chicago so if anyone is in the area or in NW Indiana or SE Wisc we can meet somewhere if you are interested and I can show them. You can contact me at nickythefish@hotmail.com

The worst part about it was that I was on a side job so I really go screwed. As my luck would have it I'm working on the only house in the neighboorhood w/ a rooftop unit.I go up take a look and find out I need to replace the inducer fan motor. So I am coming down and put one foot on the ladder and it just goes out from under me and I tumbled down.Luckily it was a ranch style house so I only fell about 10 feet but that ten feet was enough to keep me out of work for 2 years. It was on a night of the first decent snowfall of the year.I don't know what caused it to give out but my guess is I had pulled it too far out.I ran up in a hurry and didn't sweat it thought I would be up and down in a couple minutes.
So I guess the only advice I can give is to make sure you are careful and take your TIME when it comes to ladders because things can happen.I know guys get very comfy with them after a while just don't make that mistake. Also just because you are not going up 20' that nothing can happen to you.I broke my right foot and left wrist.Sprained my right wrist and went through a whole mess with fluid in my knees and a tendon hanging out of my right knee.I now have 50 percent loss of strenght and motion in my left wrist,my knees kill me and it was just from 10'.
Be careful boys!

I was a volunteer fireman in my community some years ago. We were taught that when you set the ladder, put your toes against the bottom and reach with your arms straight out and touch the beams of the ladder with your finger tips. That will place the ladder in approximately the correct angle for safe use.
I have used that method ever since. It does not matter how tall you are, the angle will be correct. It only takes a second to do this.

Almost two years ago I had a step ladder give out on me. I was only 3 steps up but managed a compound fracture of both bones in my lower right leg.
I'm still working but am reminded every step of every day that it happens very quickly.

About 10 plus years ago as I was coming down ladder stairs, the last rung broke and all my weight went toward the left foot which turned inward before impact. I didn't break anything but the pain comes back all the time if I walk a lot.
Most accidents I have had could have be prevented if
1. I was not rushed to do the work and get on to the next call.
2. No home owner distractions.
3. No working from 8am to midnight.
and the best tip of all, KEEP YOUR other hand away from Paslode nailer exit!

Hey I almost shot one in my hand a few years ago. I ran out of screws for some landscape trim I was installing, had left hand on other side to hold wood up, missed it by 6 or so inches.
