Hello, Im "the new guy" for the moment... with a question of course! ;)
(never mind my username, Ive used it for years even though the meaning has faded a bit, its a truck thing)
anyway..... I have a Janitrol GMPN080-4 furnace in my home. (is this a good furnace, or a bad furnace??) It was there when I got here, and fairly new.
Ive been having some intermitent problems which Im pretty sure I solved tonight, but I need some more info. I had a fault code 3 (light flashed 3 times), which is the pressure switch. Pulled the line off the switch, full of water. So here is what I need answers to:
(1) how do you get water on the combustion side of the furnace, and how can I stop it. (the furnace is on the main floor, only floor, of the house)
(2) is there somewhere I can get a list of what the fault codes are??? I only knew 3 flashes was the pressure switch from doing a search on Yahoo and almost didnt find it.
thanks to any and all answers. Oh, and I have already searched this forum and still didnt find the answer.

The GMPN was one of our most reliable furnaces. We just replaced the model and another model with a new model that incorporates features of both.
You cannot and should not attempt to stop the condensation. This is a condensing furnace. The drain should be adequitly trapped and not connected directly to the A/C drain.
If the small black hose that connects to the induced draft blower and the pressure switch is long enough to droop into a trap, it must be shortened so that the condensate cannot collect in it.
This is by the way, one of the most efficient furnaces on the market and should be kept maintained. The most important thing is to keep the air filter clean and seal any openings no matter how small from where non filtered air can enter the system.

Robin is correct. I am not sure with Goodman's. Some OEM give extra hoses for different ways of installing the furnace. Some techs forget to cut to lenght. I know on YORK equipment, their condensation drains are already trapped.
Keep your filters clean, maintain your equipment by a professional and it will last a long time.
Goodman got a bad rap years ago and have been improving their equipment. You have a good furnace.

Professionals in the HVAC industry refer to those as "idiot lights". They point the trained tech in the direction of the failure but do not directly indicate what part has failed, or more importantly; why.

I'd guess there weren't any service companies in Indiana. It must be a DIY state. DIY=destroy it yourself.

I am sure the furnace is replaced by now, 5 years is the life expectancy of a Goodman furnace isn't it? :D

You guys just made Robin cry.
With the products I sell closing in on 25% of the market share, every furnace condemned is a good chance that I will make another sale. Yep; crying those tears of joy.
Besides, who knows what any of us are going to be making a living off of next month? I sure can't say for certain.
